The Artist — Penelope Hunter

Penelope Hunter is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She began exhibiting her work in various Johannesburg based art galleries in 2000.

Her work initially consisted of decorative figure studies and moved on to experimentation with a range of mediums and techniques. Subject matter includes figures, portraits, wildlife and landscapes. Local and international collectors order Penelope's work.

“The creation process feels like a dance between control and spontaneity.
Driven by experimentation and varied subjects, my process combines mixed media, layering and texturing to invite unexpected results.”
